Holistic Justice Initiative

Empowering Change. Transforming Lives

Mission Statement

At Holistic Justice Initiative, we exist to restore dignity, support trauma healing, and empower
transformation for justice-impacted individuals.

We accomplish this through:
- Compassion-centered care rooted in Trust-Based Relational Intervention® (TBRI®),a trauma informed,
attachment-based, research proven intervention.
- Individualized rehabilitation and reintegration programs that nurture identity, accountability, and
healing,
- Equipping justice systems with trauma-informed training and tools,
- Advocating for systemic change through collaboration with policymakers, government leaders, and
community stakeholders,
- Cultivating communities where redemption is possible and every person is seen beyond their past.

Vision Statement

We envision a world where every justice-impacted person is given the opportunity to heal, grow,
and thrive—
Where systems of accountability are infused with compassion, and communities become places
of belonging, not rejection.
We see transformation not as a moment, but as a journey—empowered by hope, fueled by
relationship, and rooted in redemption.

Core Values

Dignity First

Every person, regardless of their past, carries inherent worth. We lead with respect and restore what
shame and judgment have taken.

Healing Over Harm

We prioritize trauma-informed approaches that interrupt cycles of harm and foster emotional,
relational, and spiritual healing.

Redemptive Accountability

We hold people responsible in ways that restore—not destroy. Growth requires both truth and grace.

Empowerment Through Relationship

Real change happens in the context of trust. We build safety, connection, and belonging through
relational work rooted in attachment-theory.

Integrity in Action

We walk our talk. Whether in a cellblock or boardroom, our work reflects the character of Christ:
humble, honest, and consistent.

Faith-Driven Purpose

Our mission flows from calling—not career. Jesus is our model, and service to the marginalized is our mandate.

Our History

Holistic Justice Initiative (HJI) was established in 2024 in response to the deep need for trauma-
informed care within the justice system. What began as a small, grassroots effort has grown into a

mission-driven organization dedicated to restoring dignity, supporting trauma healing, and empowering
transformation for justice-impacted individuals.

Framed through both lived experience and clinical insight, HJI launched its first program by training
justice professionals and championing trauma recovery for incarcerated adults. In 2025, HJI partnered
with the
Karyn Purvis Institute of Child Development, a global institution located on the campus of
Texas Christian University and
Volunteers for Youth Justice, a cornerstone nonprofit in Louisiana
devoted to uplifting and empowering children and families through providing vital resources and
support. Together we began the collaborative work to develop TBRI® on the Inside—a groundbreaking
16-week curriculum designed specifically for use in correctional settings.

Through these partnerships, HJI has expanded its reach and strengthened its impact by working
alongside like-minded organizations that believe in second chances, accountability through
relationships, and the power of trust-based care to transform lives.

Today, HJI provides mentorship, reentry support, professional development for justice stakeholders,
and advocacy for systemic change. Guided by the belief that
every person is more than their past, HJI
continues to build bridges toward healing, belonging, and hope.
