Ascent
From Surviving to Thriving. One step at a Time.
The Ascent Program is a selective, residential, trauma-responsive reentry program operatedby Holistic Justice Initiative. It is designed for justice-involved individuals who are ready to embrace structure, accountability, and healing.
Core Purpose
To provide a structured and nurturing environment where selected participants are empowered to heal, grow, and reclaim purpose through relationships, responsibility, and support.
Key Features
-
Selective Admission: Not a housing placement for anyone exiting incarceration—participants are carefully screened and accepted based on readiness, motivation, and fit.
-
Program-Based Residency: Participants do not sign leases. Instead, they enroll in a holistic program that includes housing, mentorship, skill-building, and accountability.
-
Trauma-Responsive Support: Grounded in Trust-Based Relational Intervention® (TBRI®), the program helps participants understand their trauma histories and build tools for emotional regulation, healthy relationships, and life success.
-
Empowerment Through Structure: Daily routines, responsibilities, and expectations are clear. Structure is not punitive—it’s stabilizing.
-
Faith and Purpose Integration: Residents are invited to explore deeper meaning, spiritual growth, and redemptive purpose through optional faith-based mentoring and studies.
-
Relational Discipleship and Mentorship: Staff and mentors walk closely with participants, offering consistent care, truth, and guidance.

Clarifications
-
Not a Lease Agreement: The program is not governed by tenant-landlord laws.
-
Participants waive traditional housing protections, including rights related to eviction or occupancy.
-
Program Fees, Not Rent: Residents contribute program fees that include access to a bed, utilities, transportation support, meals, and all services. These are not rent payments and do not create tenancy.
Environment
-
Clean, safe, and community-oriented housing with an emphasis on respect, accountability, and healing.
-
Expectations around chores, curfews, conduct, and engagement in programming are clearly outlined in a signed Standards and Guidelines Agreement.
